Neurotransmitter Testing

Neurotransmitter imbalances can cause or contribute to symptoms including:

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Fatigue

  • Focus issues

  • Developmental delays

  • Behavioral problems

  • Low libido

  • Headaches

  • Sleep disorders

Neurotransmitters are the chemicals that communicate information throughout our brain and body. They regulate mood, cognition, behavior, sleep, focus, sensory processing, and motivation among other things.

There are many factors that affect neurotransmitter function including diet, lifestyle, stress, environmental exposure, infections, and immune system activation. Neurotransmitter testing provides a tool to understand each patient’s specific imbalances allowing for a more individualized approach with greater success. Neurotransmitter imbalances can be corrected with targeted nutritional therapy, diet, and lifestyle changes.

The neurotransmitter test assesses the levels of serotonin, GABA, glycine, PEA, dopamine, norepinephrine, epinephrine, glutamate, histamine, 5-HIAA and DOPAC.
